Death and Life

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Col.3:1-3

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin–because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
Romans 6:3-7

As believers and disciples of the Lord Jesus, we know that we can drink from His cup. As partakers and heirs, our former selves have been crucified, buried, and the resurrected lives we possess we are able to live, unshackled from bondage to sin. We are able to set our hearts and minds on things above because we have been transformed into spiritual beings since the natural man has died. In Hebrews the Scriptures read that "for the joy set before Him He endured the cross" . It is mind boggling to realize how God felt about making a way for us to be with Him, and the lengths He went through to make it happen.
The only thing left for us to do is receive it with a
willing heart and surrendered life.
