Doing the Inconceivable

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14:28-31

In this well known passage, Peter hears Jesus and responds in faith, and steps out onto the water successfully. But while walking towards the Lord, Peter starts looking about, and observing the wind whipping up the seas, his natural mind takes over, his faith cracks and down he starts to go! Reaching out, Jesus seeks out and rescues Peter from probable drowning.
This is just what can happen to believers ... When we take our eyes off of the Lord's promises("NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD"), and are overtaken by our circumstances, and get caught up in our natural lives, and with no time for devotions and quiet time with the Lord, we start to "sink"...the Word says "without faith it is impossible to please God" (Heb.11:6)- (Faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the Word of God, Rom. 10:17).
Just as Jesus reached out his hand catching Peter, who was also reaching out for Him, we also need to constantly seek Him, reaching out and focusing on Him. Jesus tells us to "take heart because He has overcome the world". Beloved, this is not theory, but reality. Victorious living meaning staying in relationship with our Lord and Master, so seek Him and grab hold today.
