Words/Prophesies

"Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy."
1 Cor.14:1
"But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort."
1 Cor. 14:3
"I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue."
1 Cor 14:18-19
"Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all,as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, "God is really among you!" "
1 Cor.14:22-25
"Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues."But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way."
1 Cor. 14:39-40

I write this, treading on a controversial topic that has been hotly debated for centuries. But this is not about the gift of tongues, it's about using the gift of prophesy, and listening to the "still small voice" . When we are surrendered to the Lord, and we have the mind of Christ, the Spirit will use us as holy vessels, pouring a word of edification, encouragement, or knowledge into us, not to keep it cooped up inside us. We are meant to be just a conduit...it is dropped into us, for the benefit of the whole body or maybe a particular brother or sister, and when you feel that sense of prompting ... Ask the Lord to reveal to you who the recipient is.
We are all connected, all members of one Body, all made to love and for love, not warring against each other, but made to nurture and build one another up. So keep alert, keep your prophesy antenna tuned in...you might be carrying a word that desperately needs to be delivered today.
