"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
1 Corinthians 1:18
"We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection."
Romans 6:2-5
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Romans 12:2
When I was worshipping at our congregation recently, I remember gazing at the huge life-size cross on the worship platform, and the Holy Spirit revealed the shape of the cross as an intersection, the metaphor of a crossroads.
Traveling down the highway of life, we will come to stop signs, intersections. The "intersection" is where the natural and supernatural meet, where hopelessness, sin, death, and despair encounters-and is overcome by-love, hope, faith, and Life, the power of our loving, graceful, and merciful Father God.
We must put on the "turn signal", when we choose what God can do, even in the face of what the world would call "impossible" -BELIEVING GOD'S PLAN FOR OUR LIVES. A change of direction is initiated by a willing and surrendered heart.
So, beloved, if you took a wrong turn, if you know a change of heart and direction is needed, if you hear that still small voice saying, "This is My Way, GO THIS WAY, TIME TO CHANGE DIRECTION, TURN HERE!"
Stop, listen, and put that turn signal on!
