I looked for the one my heart loves;
I looked for him but did not find him.
2 I will get up now and go about the city,
through its streets and squares;
I will search for the one my heart loves.
So I looked for him but did not find him.
3 The watchmen found me
as they made their rounds in the city.
“Have you seen the one my heart loves?”
Song of Songs 3:1-3
"...for your love is more delightful than wine."
Song of Songs 1:2b
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.
Hebrews 12:2a NLT
As I read Song of Songs chapter 3, I strangely heard the words to that old country song..."looking for love in all the wrong places..."... I almost laughed out loud, as I thought, "Isn't this exactly what I did, what we do, before that "god-shaped vacuum" gets filled, before we are born again, or even after we are saved by grace when we take our eyes off "the one our hearts love"?
The answer to the eternal questions as the search for identity, fulfillment, meaning, purpose continues... but no matter how much money we make/have, how well educated or credentialed, how famous, how much stuff we are surrounded by, nothing ever satisfies...
The answer to all the questions is found only in Jesus, by remaining totally focused on , and always coming back to, Jesus, as we unequivocably dedicate ourselves and cast ouselves onto Jesus.
