"We love because he first loved us."
1 John 4:19
As I briefly listened to a few minutes of bad news (corruption, deceit, wars, murder, assaults, etc.) on two different broadcasts, one international and one here in the US, I realized it doesn't matter where these events happen, the thing that causes them is selfishness. Selfishness, and the desire to "look out for number one", is, in my opinion, misappropriated love. Today's scripture, "WE LOVE BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US" is one of the most powerful I have ever encountered. It unlocks the first and second commandments, " Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength", and "Love your neighbor as yourself" ... We become indebted in a strange and wonderful way, and walking in the fullness of these commandments is where our journey begins and ends. The Creator of the universe, El Shaddai, God Almighty loves...me ... and you! This is where belief in God or what some call a "higher power" can transition to relationship with Him- "draw near to God, and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8a) ...the veil is torn, the Holy Spirit says "Come up here", as He gives us glimpses of revelation about Himself and kingdom principles.
Today, above all else, I will meditate on this amazing and most wonderful fact: He loves us, He loved us even when we were clueless and backslidden...beloved, think on these things, purify your hearts, and rejoice in Him.
His banner over us is Love.
