20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."
Revelation 3:20
"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."
1 Corinthians 10:13
Sunday while I was worshipping and praising the Lord in the sanctuary of our church, the Spirit directed my gaze from the cross to the exit sign and back again...He starting speaking to me about yet another truth, that Jesus is the Doorway, and as such is, both the Entrance- and the Exit. The entrance being the Way to real Life, and the exit being the escape hatch from sin and death. Jesus stands at the door and knocks, waiting for us to hear the Kol Dodi, the voice of the Beloved, and respond. This gateway is the entrance to salvation, fellowship with the Bridegroom, and the secrets to abundant kingdom life, but it is also an exit. This is our escape hatch, the doorway we are to run through when faced with temptations. When faced with these temptations we need to remember we are not in that place alone, that Jesus said that He is with us, and He will never leave us or forsake us, but we must avert our gaze, our ears, our thoughts to the Door towards real life. Dwelling on the Lord, all that He is, and giving Him all of our hearts, means that we have moved from- exited- that place of threat and temptation as we enter into His Presence. His love is better than wine, nothing this world has to tempt us with can compare to Jesus, the bright and shining Morningstar, the Alpha and the Omega.
Today. as you go through your day, set your mind, heart, and spirit on Jesus, lover of your soul.
Answer the knock at the doorway.
He is waiting for you today.
