16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
Luke 12:16-20
"Remember Him before the silver cord is broken and the golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the well is shattered and the wheel at the cistern is crushed"
Ecclesiates 12:6
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."
John 3:16-18
"See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction....This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life"
Deut. 30:15,19-20
My wife's former doctor died last week, it was a huge shock, surprise to us. The obituary read: "... 49 years old, died suddenly last Friday of a cardiac arrest. Survived by his wife and children, his parents and siblings, etc. All his earthly accomplishments, Chief at the hospital, fellowship, credentials, etc. . He owned two beautiful homes, one in Florida, and one in the Hamptons, NY. We recall how he had talked about socking away the money until he was really comfortable financially, and how he would retire young, in a luxury lifestyle. He was a good man, but not a Godly man.
There's only one problem with that plan. No one knows how many days, much much time, remains in your account! People plan for this world, for the "golden years" but often times they sadly neglect eternity. Any of us could be standing face to face even as you are reading this- not one of us is guaranteed even our next breath.
Jesus said that whoever believes in Him has eternal life and will not perish, but... whoever does not believes stands condemned already...condemned already! so I want to ask you right here and now - If you have danced around the issue of salvation, but you are not sure of where you'll spend eternity, settle this right here and now. If you have that blessed assurance, but others that are dear to you do not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, have you been holding back because you don't want to "offend them", or perhaps your family has a policy about avoiding topics like politics and religion? Eternity in torment and darkness away from God will be much, much more offensive, of this we can be sure! Confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior...acknowledge and thank Him for paying the death penalty for you and making a way for you to spend eternity in heaven, and avoiding the torment of hell. Tell everyone that you know about His goodness, His lovingkindness...He's not slow in coming, He is giving more opportunity for more souls to come into the Heavenly ark, before it's too late. This is the single most important decision a person can make, The Lord will not make this choice for us, it's up to each of us.
Choose wisely.
