We are in the world but not part of the world system, anymore than Jesus was when He was with the societal "untouchables" - tax collectors, thieves, prostitutes, and others. He was with them, ministering to them, healing them, but He obviously did not participtate in or embrace their lifestyles. When we were born again and awakened to spiritual realities, we were also sanctified- separated and called to be apart from the fakeness and vanity of this present darkness. There is simply no way to mix opposites. There is a saying : "opposites attract"... that may be true for magnetic polarity, but in other matters, such as our spiritual identity, principles and our witness as disciples of Jesus, I think there is always a dominator, there is compromise, spiritual erosion. So don't be unequally hitched - to anyone or anything- it doesn't go well, and it won't end well!
So let's be salt and light, we are ambassadors of God's truth - That there is nothing that the world has to offer that compares to Him.
