Following Instructions

"On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”"
John 2:1-5

In this passage, Jesus' mother preps the servants, saying to them what I would paraphrase as-
"Do whatever He tells you, even if you think it seems ridiculous, preposterous, impossible, or unusual."
Jesus did many unusual things, said many unusual things, and still does. He didn't come to be ordinary or usual, and so we also are told - DO WHATEVER HE TELLS YOU.
As we listen and obey, extraordinary things can happen: people saved and delivered because of Jesus' love and compassion displayed through us as we respond... emotional and physical healings...widows, orphans, and other's needs met and the givers blessed unexpectedly as the Holy Spirit moves and random acts of lovingkindness WWJD style spread...and so much more.
Jesus tells us - "Greater things than the things I've done here will you do..."
I want to hear Him, listen to Him, and follow the instructions that Mary gave. Jesus said that He came to do the will of His Father who sent Him, and I am called to follow Him, imitate Him, no matter how unusual or extraordinary His instructions.
How will we know if what we hear is really from Him? Jesus said that "my sheep hear and recognize my voice"... just listen, attune yourself to Him...you'll know.
Today, listen, and do whatever He tells you.
