Who Moved?/Drifters

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."
Psalm 18:10

"We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."
Isaiah 53:6

"Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
James 4:8

"From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint;
 Lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
Psalm 61:2

I was watching Jack van Impe Ministries last night and at the end of the program, Rexalla Van Impe ended the show with this statement: " If you are feeling like God ia far away from you, remember and know this- He wasn't the one who moved".
I'm sure that word was an "ouch" and flipped on the light bulb to many, present company included...the same reason that I write this today. In the parable of the prodigal, it was the son who strayed, going to strange distant land, a place he did not belong in.
The Scriptures tell us that God is ever-present, that His ear is inclined towards us...
God never leaves us or forsakes us, it's us who do the straying ... when the anchor is not in place we will find ourselves drifting, when we leave the safety of His shelter.
Today wash your hands and purify your heart, turn from anything that causes you to drift, and/or keeps you away from the Rock. He is standing right there- right here- arms wide open for us.
The only safe place, our fulfillment through real relationship, is found not just in believing and receiving, but drawing near, to sit in our Abba's lap, to embrace and be embraced by the Bridegroom.
