On Notice

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
“Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back–whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’ ”
Mark 13:32-37

We have been put on notice.
Our Lord Jesus told each and everyone of us: "Watch!"
That particular day and hour maybe uncertain to us, but not to our Father, and so He told Jesus, who only says and does what His (and our) Father tells Him to say and do, to tell us to keep watch. Again the message comes: Be alert, be on guard!
Do not be found unaware, or sleeping.
The problem, beloved, is that many are, in fact, asleep. What is your responsibility then to the sleeping? John the Baptizer, was a forerunner, warning the people that the "ax was already laid at the root" ...Paul Revere rode through town, sounding the alarm, awakening the people, another type of forerunner...We who are alert and awake are forerunners, keepers of our brothers, sisters, neighbors, responsible to sound the alarm, not just to be alert ourselves. Use the talents given to you today, and don't forget for a split second, that as surely as the Lord lives, that He is coming, that he has told us, and every moment that passes is a moment closer.
Get ready, stay ready...WATCH.
